Our Beginnings

In 1993 a small choir emerged in Newbury, under the encouragement and training of our first director, Nicholas Woods and now by our new director Janet Coxwell. The choir grew steadily from five to around twenty, and took its name from a local National Trust property, the Sandham Memorial Chapel.

Some members have come and gone since those early days, but they have all been enriched with the music they have produced, the wonderful settings where they have sung and the friendships forged. With many happy and memorable experiences, the Sandham Singers still thrive on what they love doing most — singing together and sharing their music with others.
